Pop. 21. In Kingston T., Frontenac C. on C. Rds. 3 & 9, 11 km N of Kingston.
The place was frrst known as Scott's Corners. When the post office opened in 1853, residents requested the name Elgin to honour Governor General James Bruce, eighth Earl of Elgin.
Another community already had that name, so the name Elginburg was chosen.
