Pop. 68. In Front of Escott T. in the United Cs. of Leeds and Grenville and C. Rd. 2, 25 km SW of Brockville.
The township was settled in 1840 and in 1851 was known as the Gore of Yonge.
. It was also called Springfield and Waterton Hamlet before being named Escott after the residence of the Yonge family in Devon, England.
Miss Amelia Y onge, daughter of Sir William Yonge of Escott, became the second wife of Sir Edward Lloyd, Secretary of War, who died in 1875.
