- Pop. 300. In Albion and Toronto Gore Ts., Peel Region on C. Rds. 8 & 14, 10 km NW of Woodbridge.
- The place was first called Grantville or Grantsville after settler Simon Peter Grant but by 1859 was known locally as Gooseville.
- The post office was established in 1873 and named Gribbin after postmaster/parish priest Fr. John Gribbin.
- In 1891 schoolmaster J. A. Ellis succesfully applied to have the post office renamed Wi1dfield after a place in County Kilkenny, Ireland. In 1950 local pastor L. J. Austin proposed the name Maryfield, but it was not accepted by residents.
