Pop. 87. In Muskoka Lakes T., Dist. Mun. of Muskoka on Hwy. 141,29 km SW of Huntsville. Early settlers here were the Beathunes, Fullertons, Greers, Kingshotts and Youngs.
The place was first called Bent Riverdale, but A. J. Clements suggested it be shortened to Bent River.
In the early 1900s Mrs. James Young was the first postmistress. Roy Bunn was the last postmaster when the office closed in 1967.

Excellent display Bent River Early residents were also the lee's and Quinton's The area was farmed extensively and there is a historic school house which has been kept up and inside it shows pictures of the early students in the one room school house.
