  • In Rear of Leeds & Lansdowne T., Leeds C. on Lyndhurst L. and C. Rds. 3 & 33, 55 km NE of Kingston.
  • When iron was discovered here in 1801, Wallis Sunderlin won the right to build the first successful iron furnace in Upper Canada.
  • The community that developed was first called Furnace Falls because of falls on the upper reaches of the Gananoque R.
  • The post office opened in 1851 as Lyndhurst in honour of John Singleton Copley, Baron Lyndhurst (1772-1863), Lord Chancellor of England.
