In Rear of Leeds & Lansdowne T., Leeds C. on Lyndhurst L. and C. Rds. 3 & 33, 55 km NE of Kingston.
When iron was discovered here in 1801, Wallis Sunderlin won the right to build the first successful iron furnace in Upper Canada.
The community that developed was first called Furnace Falls because of falls on the upper reaches of the Gananoque R.
The post office opened in 1851 as Lyndhurst in honour of John Singleton Copley, Baron Lyndhurst (1772-1863), Lord Chancellor of England.
