- Pop. 148. In Artemesia & Glenelg Ts., Grey C. on the Saugeen R. and C. Rd. 4, 15 km E of Durham.
- The first settlers were runaway slaves from the United States and the place is believed to have been named for a surveyor from the Niagara area who in the 1840s was known as the 'conductor' on the underground railway.
- For a time the place was known as Gravesend.
